Read Across America Day
You're never too old, too wacky, too wild,
To pick up a book and read with a child.
You're never too busy, too cool, or too hot,
To pick up a book and share what you've got.
In schools and communities,
Let's gather around,
Let's pick up a book,
Let's pass it around.
There are kids all around you,
Kids who will need
Someone to hug,
Someone to read.
Come join us March 2nd
Your own special way
And make this America's
Read to Kids Day.

Being Healthy
Today, in grades 2-4 we learned that being happy is an important component to one health's. Not only do you need to make healthy food choices to help your body grow but you also need to maintain a happy outlook. Being mean by teasing others or making fun of their different food choices takes away from your own health. Additionally we learned that different bodies have different food needs. Thank you to Mr. Avi Shemtov from the Chubby Chickpea for sharing his food expertise and advise for treating others kindly.

In Honor of Kaleigh
We will wear pink or red tomorrow, Kaleigh's favorite colors, to honor her and those we love and miss. Hope everyone joins us.

Luce Play Postponment
Children generally look forward to a snow day from school. However, at the Luce yesterday many of the students were worried about whether they would be able to perform as scheduled in the play tonight. Unfortunately, their fears came true when school was canceled this morning. However, the show will go on tomorrow! The Wizard of Oz will be performed tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm as a matinee and then again tomorrow night at 7 pm. We hope we see you there as we make our way down the yellow brick road.

Luce Winter Concert
Today were impressed by the inspirational performances done by our students! Our string students, both first and second year, Music Mania, band and Gr. 5 chorus should be so proud. And our audience certainly displayed their respect and appreciation. It just goes to show what effort and perseverance can do.

January Return
We, staff and students, are rested and recharged as we enter 2016! It's important that we not loose sight of what it is like to be a learner. Learning isn't easy. It comes with struggles. "Teaching isn't telling; understandings must be constructed-earned-in the mind of the learner," according to Grant Wiggins. Remember, if we all work together then we will be achieve!
